Hi Listers,

I am going to begin requesting and searching every
document I can find on my Jefferson County relatives.
What information does a pre 1920 death certificate
usually provide? Which other documents that I can send
for could possibly provide some clues as to the
birthplace, parents ages, mother's maiden name, etc.?
What year did births begin to be recorded in Jefferson
County?

When my husband's great great grandfather, Peter
CHRIST, died in 1899 the church record book
said...."Peter CHRIST of Carondelet." I know Carondelet
was (and is) in the southern part of St. Louis, but I
believe it used to encompass a larger area than it does
today. Does anyone have an idea where I might research
this? Thanks for any help you can provide.
