Subject: Dallas County Look Up
Hello:
I've noticed you are available to do several look ups. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I am researching the TUCKER surname. Here's what I have so far. This is the 1850 Census Information from Dallas County.
1850 Census - Dallas Co., District # 26, Missouri - August 20 - page 14 - 94/94 - John Tucker, age 37, male, farmer, 500 (value of Real Estate), born in Ohio - Angeline Tucker, age 31, female, born in Ohio, could not read or write - John Tucker, age 11, male, born in Indiana - James Tucker, age 9, male, born in Indiana - Sarah Tucker, age 7, female, born in Missouri - George Tucker, age 5, male, born in Missouri, Lewis Tucker, age 1, male, born in Missouri.
I'm pretty sure Sarah was born in Dallas County which would put my TUCKER line in the county in 1843. George was born in 1845. Then Lewis was born in 1849. I have another child, Gineral Mathias TUCKER who was born 1847 and died 1848. Could you look up this infant for me?
Also, I'm pretty sure the family was still in Dallas County prior to (and maybe during the Civil War). Sarah TUCKER married a man, George LINE (LYON). The story goes that George was shot by the Union soldiers. There was a small boy that was forced to walk on hot coals in an attempt to get Sarah to tell the Soldiers where the supplies were hidden. I have no record of this little boy, or for the marriage of George and Sarah. There was a little girl, Georgia, born in 1864, so he would have been shot some time after March, 1864, because she was born in November. Could you look up the marriage records for 1861 - 1863 and check for George & Sarah? Or, maybe forward this on to who does the marriage look ups.
The last dead end I have with this family is for Sarah's oldest brother, John W. who married Madeline ? . John was born in 1838, so I'm thinking he would have married about 1858 or so. Could you look up the marriage records between 1858 and 1863 for John W. Tucker married to a Madeline ? ?
I hope these aren't too many questions for you. I really appreciate your taking the time to do this for me. I'm in McDonald County, Missouri. If I can do anything for you, I'd be more than happy to reciprocate the favor.
Thanks Bunches,
Raylene

Hello Raylene -
I could not locate Gineral Mathias Tucker in the cemetery books I have.
There are no public marriage records for Dallas Co., Mo., prior to the fall of 1867 due to the burnings of the courthouse during the 1860s.
I did locate your Tucker family in the 1860 Dallas Co., Mo. federal census in Green Township:
John 48 Oh Farmer
Angelina 41 Oh
John 22 In
James 19 In
Sarah A.M. 17 In
George W. 15 Mo
Lewis 11 Mo
Angeline 8 Mo
William 6 Mo
Nancy 4 Mo
Daniel G. 1 Mo
