DAVIS, Mary Patricia (Avery)
Passed away peacefully April 24, 2005. Mary, better known as "Pat," was born June 27, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI. She graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 1947. Pat married Roy Howard Davis April 24, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gardner and Anne Laraine Avery. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roy; and her children, Jackie (Skip) Fox, Dan Davis, Kerry (Bill) Batt, Scott (Sue) Davis, and Dawn (Mark) Simmons. Also surviving are a sister, Yvonne (Clare) Seaburg; and a brother Doc (Kaye) Avery. She centered her life around her fourteen grandchildren: Matt, Marc, Melissa, Charlie, Austin, Brandon, Heather, Alishia, Meagan, Kyla, Daniall, Sean, Rory, Ryan; and her ten great-grandchildren. She was a natural when it came to nurturing her family and wasn't afraid to spoil anyone. A favorite place of hers would be poolside, burgers on the grill, surrounded by her boisterous family, and being the reigning champ at horseshoes. She enjoyed biking and jogging!
, in later years one could always catch her walking around town in the mornings. Her trophies proved her competitive spirit and love of bowling and golf. In her younger days she enjoyed a good tennis match, but recently a good spin on the golf cart with Roy would be her preference. Everything was always more fun when Pat was in the room laughing with us. Her distinctive laughter brought a smile to anyone's face. She has been an active member of a bowling league for about forty-five years and a golf league for over thirty years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Portage Schoolcraft Eagles. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schoolcraft United Methodist Church, where the Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005 with Rev. Paula Vander Hoven officiating. Interment in Schoolcraft Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Schoolcraft Community Foundation for Maintenance of the Davis Field, Schoolcraft United Methodist Chur!
