Of Kalamazoo

Passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005. Ed was born September 9, 1913 in Kalamazoo, the son of John and Mabel (Hotop) Fleckenstein, and was a lifelong area resident. During WW II, from 1941-45, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Ed was an self employed auto mechanic who operated Fleckenstein Bros. Service Station for over 40 years with his brother Bob. On July 18, 1951 he married Albertina L. Hiesrodt, who preceded him in death on August 27, 2002. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Korbakis; and by both his brothers, Robert and Donald Fleckenstein. Surviving are his daughter, Joan (Charles) Betke of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A Graveside Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with full military honors in Ft. Custer National Cemetery (those wishing to attend please meet at !
Ft. Custer entrance by 11:20 a.m.). Memorials in Ed's memory may be directed to the Alamo Nursing Home Patient Fund. www.langelands.com
