Climax

Mr. Smoke died early Sunday morning, January 9, 2005 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born April 14, 1924 in Climax, son of the late Jay and Ilah (Worden) Smoke. Mr. Smoke was employed by General Motors for over 20 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. Gladwin was a member of the Climax American Legion Post #465. On March 25, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dora Schafer, who preceded him in death in September 1988. Also preceding him in death are his daughter, Diana Kinney in September 1994; three brothers, Dale, Carol, and Leo Smoke; and one sister, Vivian Gibson. Surviving are close friends, Terri Schley, Bob Stinnett, Brett Blodgett, Ray Pierce Jr., Charlie Allen, Jim Baughman, Mary Furlong, and all of Climax. Funeral services for Mr. Smoke will be at 11:00 AM on Thursdy at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maples Street. Interment with full military honors will fol!
low in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association. www.langelands.com
