Hi I have been trying to establish connection between John and Eliza Middlebrook living in Gomersall in 1861 and my gggrandfather William Hartley who left his two daughters with them on a trip home from Durban in 1861 and this could be it!
Where was your William from and when did he go to SA? William and his wife Isabella went in 1850 on the Sovereign.
