You can contact me directly at Can you give me an approximate date for the birth of Cesario/Cesareo de la Cueva?
I don't have these names in my files but that doesn't mean I don't have their families. La Hermita could be either Hermita de los Correas, where many Cuevas/de la Cueva family members lived or it could be Hermita de Guadalupe but I haven't found de la Cueva/Cuevas there. The records show them using both Cuevas/Cueba, de la Cueva/de la Cueba. Most when they came to this country became Cuevas.
In the original records from the district of Jerez this family was De la Cueva Carabajal and most probably came from Jewish roots. The only way to prove if you come from this line is with dna testing on a male carrying the de la Cueva surname. There is also a line who lived in Hermita de la Correas who's line comes from a child who was an "expuesto," a child who was left at the door of a family the mother felt would adopt and care for him. Pedro De la Cueva, abt 1769, was the beginning of this De la Cueva line. Many of these children were the actual child of the man of the household and the mother was his querida or other love, the child would be raised by the wife or he could just be given to a family the mother thought could afford to raise him and love him. I don't know that this is your line but it's just an interesting story. The adopted parents, Juan Jose De la Cueva and Maria Guadalupe Andarsa, of this child also had at least 4 other children, 2 being males and !
they lived in Hermita de los Correas among other places.
I have taken my records off Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com because they merged them with at least 3 other files that are not related so some records are no longer correct. I'm waiting another week or so to put them online again, Rootsweb.com.
Please contact me directly and maybe we can figure out where, with approximate dates your Cesario fits into these lines.
I do not have de la Cueva lineage but my families from the district of Jerez married into this line many times. I have De la Cueva/Cuevas cousins even today.
