I have been successful with research in certain areas of Zacatecus using films through the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to travel to Salt Lake City once a year but not everyone can do the same, but you can order the films through your local Family History Center (FHC). Once the films arrive you have a few weeks to search through the films before they are returned to Utah.

Because there are so many films available you need to check out the library catalog on their online site and decide which films you want to order because there is a charge to order the films. Our local FHC charges $5.75 per film and will allow you the use for 5 weeks. Check with your local FHC because each center has their own policies.

Not all areas of Mexico have been filmed but if you are lucky enough to find your area on film it's great.

I was able to research Rio Grande, Zacatecus and Fresnillo, Zacatecus using films.

All the records are in Spanish and even though I don't speak, read or write Spanish I was still able to find what I was wanting.
