My Grandfather Bartolo delatorre along with his wife Felipa Pinedo immigrated from Rancho de los Cuervos, Jerez Zacatecas during the Mexican Revolution around 1913. Bartolo was supposed to be executed by the Carranza soldiers on suspcion of spying. They were asked if they had any live stock and Bartolo lied in order to keep what small means of livelihood in tact. They discovered the the livestock and Bartolo was threatened with execution. Felipa begged the General not to execute him and was commanded to cook all night for the soldiers, and miraculaously he was spared
and soon left for the United States. Batolo's brothers
Pedro and Pedrito delaTorre had come to the USA priviously.
There is a Maria Antoneta delatorre who may have been my mother's grandmother.
The family consited of Bernabe delatorre, Alejandro, Emilia,
Maria, Demetria (MY MOTHER) and Sarita.
Bartolo died near San Luis Rio Colorado while helping to save
another life duing the revolution. Felipe and her children came to Agua Prieta and crossed into Douglas Arizona and lived in
Pirtleville ( in spanish called Pueblo Nuevo).
I remember my mother mentioning the Marquez, Gomez families of whom I know of. We are Probably looking at same
origin.
My mother Demetria delatorre married Ricardo Dorame
from Pirtleville in 1929.
My Mother passed away in 1987 but I was told that the birth and ancestral records in Mexico were destroyed during the Mexican Revolution.
Regards
Samuel DelatorreD.
