Hi Ruben,
I was reading your postings in regards to your search for old mining towns. I hope that you have made some progress. I just wanted to add that my GGrandfather, Felix Reynoso, had a son named Secundino Reynoso who had moved to what was once known as "La Minera." This village has since been renamed to Sombrerete, Zac. Apparently, he died of black lung. I have to admit that I have not pursued this line because I have been focusing on the origins of the Reynoso family. Last year, I had the fortune to visit Zacatecas, Zacatecas. The city of Zacatecas is the capital of the state of Zacatecas. They have an old mine located in the center of town that is now a museum. People take tours daily and are told the story of the miners life. I also recall that they had information regarding other mines in the area. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of the mine. However, there must be information on-line that you can search for. On a slightly different note, during the minin!
g days of New Mexico (USA) many from the state of Zacatecas were recruited to mine there because of their expertise. Just thought I would add that as it might prove helpful in the future. Hope this information helps.
