I found the 2000 Census link on the page supplied by Christopher to be quite handy for finding small towns in a "municipio" that might not appear on a map. In particular, some towns have been renamed and the old name is given in parenthesis. As in the U.S., some towns in one county have the same name as another town in another county or even simular names in the same county. How can you tell which one is more likely your town of interest? One way is through geographical latitude and longitude, but the 2000 Census list does not have geographical coordinates. Fortunately, I found a list that does.

Even if you have a map that doesn't use coordinates, you can estimate your town's location by using the coordinates of the towns that ARE on your map as a reference. That is, your town will be either north or south of the latitude of another town on your map. And it will be either east or west of the longitude of another town on your map. You can gradually narrow the area by using other towns with closer coordinates.

The Zacatecas site at http://zac.inegi.gob.mx/territorio/espanol/catmun/CIGEL95/fzac.html has the information for you to do this. After you select the municipio, a list of towns appears with
coordinates. Unfortunately because of constraints, I cannot personally help anyone in finding a particular town, but I think there are people on this board that might be able to.
