Soy nuevo a este lista. (and hoping I spelled that correctly). I have just interviewed my husbands grandmother, and would like to know where to research from here. What I have learned from her, is that the family came to California from Mexico in about 1910-1911. They were hired in Mexico to come to Needles, California to work for the railroad. They then moved on to Fresno, California also for the railroads. When the depression came, the family split up and our branch went to Los Angeles, California.

Here is what I found in the 1920 census.

State: California
County: Fresno
Cherry Avenue

Eugenio Villalobos age 24 Born: Mexico (Head)
Maria Luisa Villalobos age 19 Born: Mexico (Wife) ( nee' Barba)
Josephina Villalobos age 1 year 8 months Born: Needles, California (Daughter)
Luz Villalobos age 1 month Born: California (Daughter)

****************************************
Estevan Villalobos age 62 Born: Mexico (Head)
Ysidora Villalobos age 62 Born: Mexico (Wife) (nee' Munoz)
Marcus Villalobos age 19 Born: Mexico (Son)

****************************************
Flavio Barba age 49 Born: Mexico (Head)
Christina Barba age 45 Born: Mexico (Wife) (nee' Duran)
****************************************

Can anyone help me? I have been told different things about the family, some say thay came from DURANGO, others say they came from in or near Guadalajara, maybe they came from both?
I do not speak much Spanish at all, and I don't know where to go from here. They were not here for the 1910 census, or were not counted. They 1920 census says that they came to California bet. 1910 and 1912. Are all the surnames Spanish? Barba sounded Italian to me, but nobody knows.
I hope to hear from somebody soon, Thanks! Pamela (Placerville, California)
