Esther,
The public library in El Paso has quite a number of writings by the Alessio brothers. It also has the books written by John Reed, the war correspondant. You may borrow them through interlibrary loan.
I will contact you later with more information about the Alessios, the Robles and whatever I find about them. I need to go through my books. Alsos, I borrowed the Cronica Ilustrada Revolucion Mexicana - currently out of print - from a friend (looking for info on General Panfilo Natera) which has extensive information about most of the people in the Revolution. It has lots of pictures with the people identified most of the time. One volume is paintings of the notables done by the Zavala painter from Mexico City. It's five volumes and it will take me a while.
Now that you mention Cuencame, you may be right about the Robles. One of my grandfathers had a number of 'conocidos" by the name of Robles from Cuencame because several men from there had married into his Castruita and Barron families which settled in San Juan de Guadalupe, Durango, not too far from Cuencame. By the way, I have a number of relatives with the Robles surname also. Their families also hail from Zacatecas. Most live in Torreon and surrounding haciendas.
Elvira
