There was a General Jose Isabel Robles fought in the 1910 Revolution, the same whom newspaperman John Reed should have known. Robles also knew General Vito Alessio Robles, in fact there are pictures of both in a picture taken in October of 1914 in Veracruz. Jose Isabel was not related to the Alessios.
I read somewhere that the Alessios' maternal grandfather (Robles) had been an officer in the Mexican Army before the Revolution and also a general.
Jose Isabel was from Zacatecas. I don't remember from where exactly but it may be either Nieves or El Vergel, Zacatecas.
There is another General Juvencio Robles about whom a corrido was written. I have a copy of the corrido. He died in 1920, POB unknown, but was from Juchitan, Oaxaca. this one was retired from the Forces because he was rather cruel. I think he was called "el Incendiario".
Yet another general is Manuel Natividad Robles Rosas, 1877-1939, b. Guanajuato.
Also General Serafin Maximiliano Robles Morales, 1883-1955, b. Jonatepec, 12 October. He died in Mexico City on 28 May and is buried in Cuautla, Morelos.
I think all of them sooner or later ended up with Villa at one time or another. There may be more. Jose Isabel was the only one I know for sure that was a Villista for a longer period of time.
