Surname: casares sephardic origin
-------------------------

hello,
I simply descend from the Casares family. my mother's father was Arzac
Casares. I did not have anything to find out. I was simply born into it.
I am Spanish, I live in Spain, more precisely in San Sebastian, where I
was born and bred, as all of my ancestors. In the case of the Casares side
of the family, their presence right here dates back to the 12th century.
There is still here their ancestral home, a small but beautiful solar seat,
which is now a "Casa de Cultura" for the inhabitants of the area, 6 kms.
from the city of San Sebastian.
The only thing that changes things is, that I entered Internet about 3
weeks ago, and by pure chance I came across this very interesting roots
genealogy programme. I feel privileged to be able to keep in touch with
all of you, so very interested in getting to know where all of your ancestors
(part of my kin) came from. if it were in my hands to do so, I would gladly
try to help you in your search.
As it so happens, I have the family parish records dating back to when
they officially started, in the 16th century, and in that time, a Domingo
Casares married Quiteria Larracho and had several children. Domingo, curiously
enough, was married at the beginning of the 17th century, but was not born
here, whereas his wife did. Of all the children they had, the eldest was
born here, and the latest three, but the four in the middle do not appear
in the parish records as being born here. I now, having heard so much from
Casares in Mexico, guess, were born and remained there, thus my interest.
as for your family names, I am sorry I cannot help you. You should perhaps
try the Mormon record in Salt Lake City.
Anyhow, we, in my family, are all Basques, and your family
names seem to me to be pure Spanish from the non Basque speaking rest of
Spain.
I hope I was able to help. Adios.
