Surname: Casares ancestry
-------------------------
hello! i have just read about your search for Casares family name. believe
me, they were not sephardic at all. there is an ancestral family home in
Alza, San Sebastian, Spain, where my grandfather was born. it is the Palacio
de Casares . It is now a "Casa de Cultura" for the area. they were related
to the Arzac family, and came here in the 12th century apparen tly from
the French Navarre. I have just learned that in the 18th century, some of
my ancestors went to Guanajuato and Michoacan, and some children of this
couple stayed in Mexico. So your Casares were originally from the Basquecountry,
and before the 12th century from France. They have been a prominent family
here. Glad to help and willing to enlarge. Goodbye.
