Hi Nora,

It is possible that your Grandmother will not recognize the names on my list. Some of the names on my list date back to almost 150 years.

That is when my Great Great Grandfather Antonio Vega lived. El era de Santiago Tanga y tenia familia en el Guallabo. But this is where I am stuck, I dont know his father's name or brothers and sisters name either.

I do know that we are related to los Vega de Barrio Santo though because of my research and because it seems that that branch of the Vega's descend from El Guallabo and we are probably related to the Machetes and Chicharros too, but I have yet to figure that part out. I believe all the Vega's descend from El Guallabo and then they finally made it to Santiago and spread along Chavinda, Jacona and as far as Zamora.

For now I do know my Vega origin is from Santiago and El Guallabo and once I find out my connection to you and other Vega's, we can move on to the Vega's in bigger cities.

Can you ask your grandmother if she knows her family in el Guallabo? Quienes eran sus padres? Abuelos? Tios? Bisabuleos?

I know that we are related and one day I will find out exactly where the connection is. But I know that if you are a Vega from Barrio Santo we are family.

Talk to you soon!

Mario Vega Manzo
