Lorena,
Hi how are you doing? I really hope you can help me with my family research.
I dont know much except that my Great-Great Grandfather Antonio Vega was from Santiago. My great-grandfather Rafael Vega Collazo was also born in Santiago but that is all I know.
We now live in San Antonio Guaracha, and there are also 2 more Vega branches in our town, but all three of us decend from Tanga. Also all three branches are related but we do not know exactly how....up until early this year we found out that 3 branches were kin but because the older Vega's from all branches knew that we were related because their parents and grand parents se reconocian como de la casa, and although I do have lots of data on the Vega family I have not been able to establish the link that will let us know how we are related. But it will date back to 4 or 5 generations.
I think that we are related. As a matter of fact I know we are. Because the Vega's from Barrio Santo came from el Guayabo a couple of generations ago. Correct me if I am wrong. This is information I received from an uncle that was very close to the Vega's still living in el Guayabo, which is a very small ranch between San Antonio and Tanga. This would have been three generations ago like in 1890 or early 1900's. Because I know that there are two other branches of Vega's in Tanga Los Machetes, Los Chicharros and Los Cantores, I would be related to los Cantores from Barrio Santo for a fact.
I heard from my grandfather Primitivo Vega that his father Rafael Vega was born in Tanga and so was his father. I have heard of an Eufemio Vega who was my G-Grandfather's first cousin, which means that my G-G Grandfather had at least one brother, but I do not know the name and unfortunately the eldest Vega's in my family have passed on.
Who were your grandparents and great granparents? How far back can you trace your family? We have to be able to make the connection.
Awaiting your reply.
Tu primo,
Mario Vega
