Sorry it took so long to respond. I haven't been able to work on our family
tree for awhile. My father who is 79 years of age, was told by his father
as was told by his and so on that they were told that two Reynaga brothers
came over from Europe - from Portugal or Spain - probably as forced laborers?
- but the story goes that the two brothers jumped ship and came into Mexico
probably through Vera Cruz - for some reason the brothers decided to part
ways - one stayed and settled in Jalisco and the other in Michoacan, where
my fathers family for several generations is from. All my life my father
told his children this story. A few weeks ago I went to the Mormon's family
History Center and downloaded one of their international disks of Mexico
and typed in Reynaga. I was shocked and couldn't wait to tell my father
that I found lists and lists of Reynaga dating back to the l700's all from
Jalisco and Michoacan! I still need to get more ancestors to be able to
connect with these Reynaga's - but it was exciting to know that there is
truth to the story of the two brothers. Good luck on your search and make
sure you use the Mormon Family centers - they are friendly and helpful.
