Hi, Pat,

We've all hit a dead end in my family with Hugh McLean (b.1780 (?) in NC, m. Elizabeth Nancy Morris in Mecklenburg COunty, NC in 1810) and died after 1850 in Walker County, AL.

I don't suppose this rings any bells? I have more info about their children, etc. Her parents, for instance, were John Morris and Margaret Elizabeth Maxwell. I can supply more information if needed.

I would also like to know where to go to visit the Thomas McLain Treeshakers site you mentioned.
