Subject: [MABERKSH] finding out if a death occurred
Date: Sat, 13 Mar 2004 15:33:50 +0000
A set of twins was born on November 14, 1921 at either 54 or 24 Charles Street in Pittsfield. The date the births were recorded is smudged, but I think it is 2/9 can't make out year. One of the twins has a name. The second twin appears to have had a name that was erased. If that means the twin died wouldn't the name be on the Berkshire County or Pittsfield death list on line? The last name of the twins was Tewhill and I did see a Tewhill on the death list but it was a year or two before these two were born and was written as Baby. Does anyone have any access to recorded deaths to see if maybe the November 1921 name was just left off the internet list? The twin with the name is Peter Tewhill. The one without the name is just blank blank Tewhill -- I say blank blank because it looks like there was a first and middle name erased and the Tewhill is where it would be if there were other names. The date of recording the birth is important as well.
All this to say that I suspect some baby-switching around that time. Is anyone ever allowed to see the actual original records? Roger Howe Dingman was born November 11, 1921, just 3 days before the twins. On the typed record of his page it looks like there was some kind of alteration, but it could have just been a typo. The original would tell the story.
If anyone can find out these two things...maybe the mystery can be solved after all!
Thank you! Sherry Braun
