:I offer my congratulations to Kay for the insight and clarity of her
:declaration. I am personally ashamed for any part I played in causing
:Brian to feel he had to defend himself....Shame on Me.....Shame on
:anyone else who contributed to his feeling that way.
:I would also caution anyone who wants to feel defensive about their
:position that we will accept their right to feel as they do and will
:defend to the death their right to feel that way....so long as they do
:disruption, dissention and ill will among Listowners and Rootsweb
:members and Rootsweb management.
:Might I also suggest that in the future when you offer a suggestion to
:the management of Rootsweb, attach a check to it...let them know that
:you are willing to sacrifice to encourage them to sacrifice.
:Might I further suggest, every time you send a check to Broderbund or
:Ancestry, send a check to Rootsweb, let them know you feel as strongly
:about their importance as you do the commercial enterprises which feed
:off of the Rootsweb members.
:One more suggestion...Listowners, include your Rootsweb Sponsorship in
:your signature Tag and ask each of your members to claim their Rootsweb
:membership in their signature tag. It will serve as a continuing
:reminder to non members that Rootsweb costs money to maintain. For
:those who can't afford the $12. let's find them a sponsor who can
:to cover their membership.
: Please respond to me personally so we can let the list get back to

::I usually just delete all such goings on but, this one hits where I
::live more than the usual discussion.
::I came here to do genealogy no other reason. I am on a very fixed
::income and didn't think I could afford to become a sponsor (and
::Brian told me that it wasn't expected if it would be a hardship)
::but, its like this. When I had to do genealogy by snail mail, I
::spent more than $24.00 on postage, had to wait 2 weeks to 6 months
::for a reply. How many buy subscriptions to newsletters, etc. and
::what do they cost? I don't own cd's or very many books but, I know
::the few that I do own cost much more than $24.
::I've never regretted sending my $24., I have found so much
::information (most of it on RootsWeb). I try to do my part in
::volunteering to do what I can with county pages. But, I could never
::do what the people at RootsWeb do.
::I say let Brian, Karen, Tim, Marc and others run the darn thing and
::let's just appreciated what we have, they have got us this far with
::a very low cost to any one of the users. If I had the knowledge
::that these people have I would want the big bucks for my expertise.
::If all of us who over the past few days have had an opinion on these
::matters would send in their sponsorship money, RootsWeb could fly
::like an eagle.
