I have a great-uncle james lyons and had a great uncle-Austin Lyons in my family tree from Louisburgh County Mayo.
The Lyons lived at The Colony and in Accony.
I don't know that these are related to yours but I wonder seeing those two names if your relative could have been related to my great grandfather who was called Redmond. Most of my family settled in Chicago not NY but it seems possible they might be related.
