We corresponded some before when you were looking for the father of Walter Lowrie Lyons. I have revisited those posts and done some more looking around on line, hoping to find something that might give me a link. What I found is something that means I can rule out William and Margaret Gibson Lyons as parents of my Elizabeth.
I found a couple of pages of information at genealogy.com in Carroll, Harrison Counties (Ohio) Biographies that show William Lyons being in Ohio sometime before 1811. That means Elizabeth could have been 8 or 9 so not living on her own by then.
Since we last chatted, one of my cousins located a transcription of marriages published in old newspapers of Westmoreland County. The earliest date from the cover is 1818, but there was Elizabeth Lyons and Daniel Swank, married 19 Nov 1818. The only other comment was that they were both from Washington Township.
There is a William Lyons to be found in Washington Township (Westmoreland County) in 1800 and in 1820. I cannot find one in 1810, but I think the one in 1800 and in 1820 may be the same person.
Just this morning and after receiving your post here, I did a Google search for "Menie Lowrie" and found a family tree for Gibons that does include your William Lyons. The author of this tree thinks the 1800 William Lyons is yours, but he has a little error in his information as there were two sons under ten, not one. Anyway, there are at least a couple of wills transcribed within this tree so Google "Menie Lowrie" and go read through this. I think it will be a great help to you. There is an email address showing, but the tree was last updated in 2003 so I don't know if it will be any good yet or not. I also think your William Lyons may have been in Fayette County, Springhill Township.
I hope this helps you some, and maybe someday, someone will have something to share on the parents of my Elizabeth Lyons, if we ever find out who they are. I am still liking William Lyons and Mary McKee, but I can find nothing about them anywhere.
Mary Lou Swank
