Lyman is my husband's side of the family tree. I have just begun
researching but did have a resource in family that quickly got be back
to his ggrandfather Alfred Augustine Lyman from Lancaster and Bolton,
MA. His father Charles is where I am stuck. I found a listing on the
LDS site for Charles Augustine born 1805 died 1880 in Lancaster. Other
family members listed match with my information.

When I requested the death certificate for Charles Lyman who died in
Lancaster in 1880, I received a death certificate for someone who died
in Lancaster in 1880 named Charles Lyman but was born in 1832. At first
I thought it was Alfreds brother but the parents are listed as Nathaniel
and unknown from NH.

I have no idea what Charles' parents names were. Also I find no record
of him in Lancaster Vital Records until his childrens births are listed
in 1830's. I did find a reference in a book of Massachusetts Name
Changes of a Lyman Cranch of Bolton who was allowed to change his name
to Charles Lyman. I can find no other mention anywhere of Lyman Cranch
however. This name change was in 1828. Bolton is the next town over from
Lancaster.

Sorry for the long posting but I am really stuck and would appreciate
any information anyone may have or any suggestions of what I should do
next.
