QUESTION about Bills of Sale or Property Transfers in Louisiana:
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with bills of sale either current or past so I am going to have to forward the question to someone with more experience in historical records and law.
"My question
to you is, under Louisiana law,
if someone sells a plantation with a family cemetery on the land, does
the cemetery have to be listed on the bill of sale?
HOW are bills of sale different between 1860's and 1950?
If a family cemetery is located on the property, would a notation on the Bill of Sale or other document be made.
At issue: A family cemetery existed during the Civil War which was noted in an 1915 newspaper article BUT the headstones no longer exist on the property.
--The move (of the
headstones or reinternment) possibly could have been between 1915 and
1935."
Sincerely,
