Dear Listers

Further to Delia supplying me back in September with my g-grandfather
John and his BOGG family living in Plumstead on the 1901 census
(wrongly transcribed as BAGG). This has created a new mystery cos
living with them was a whole other BOGG family that we have never heard
of before!

Can anyone find them on any other census cos I can't find anything for
them on Free BMD or FamilySearch?

They are:- on 1901 census

Alfred Bogg age 51 Born Bridport,Living in Plumstead Labourer in the
Royal Arsenal
Elizabeth Bogg 52 born Gibralter
Ham Bogg aged 26 born Dorset Maiden General Labourer
Rosie Bogg age 17 born Dumbarton Scotland Plumstead School Teacher
Public Teacher

I would have thought that Alfred was one of my g-grandfather's brothers
as they are very close in age. However he has never been listed on any
census with my grandfather and his siblings. I suspect that Alfred has
been in the army which would explain why his son was born in Dorset and
daughter in Scotland. I also suspect that Elizabeth's father was in the
army also only I don't know her maiden name!

Oh dear if nothing turns up in the censuses it looks as if this will
have to wait until my cousin goes off to the Records Office at Kew
again and can look in the book for army records!

I am now wondering whether Alfred and John Bogg were cousins?

Frances
