Subject: The Lizar family in Oklahoma

Hello folks! I am looking for my Lizar roots. I don't really know if
the last name originally was LIZAR, or what..family rumor has it that
the family felt its name was "too High-fallutin' " so they changed it.
That makes it difficult for those trying to do research. :-) The
information that I have found is from The Pawnee Courier-Dispatch and
Times-Democrat as well as they Caddo Herald. I also have my
great-great grandfather's obit.

Joseph A. Lizar (Joe) born 9 aug 1867 died 23 may 1919 in Stillwater,
Oklahoma. Buried in the cemetery in Maramec, Oklahoma
Married to Sarah J. born 12 jan 1872 died 18 sep 1938

They had 5 children:
Temperance Sofia Lizar born 3 july 1892 (Married William Franklin
Green)
William Lizar born February 09, 1896
Jenny
Mary
Lois

From the newspapers, I have figured out that Joseph A Lizar had a
brother in the same general neighborhood JN Lizar. He is sometimes
referred to as Jap Lizar. There are several other Lizars mentioned, but
I am not sure who they are.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
