Dear Mailing list administrators,

As I am sure most of you are aware the number of spam coming through to the
lists has been increasing. In response to this increase on Monday, January
5, we will be tightening the spam filters in hopes of blocking more spam
messages. We are hopeful that only spam will be blocked but there is a
chance that legitimate mail could be blocked. If you receive reports from
list members that their mail did not make it through please notify the Help
desk.

We are working on additional solutions for decreasing the spam and will let
you know as we implement any further changes.

I also want to remind you that if you administer a list that does not
receive a lot of non-member mail that you can use the Discard option for
handling non-member mail. This option is found by clicking on the Privacy
options menu item, then Accept List. Choosing to discard non-member mail
will ensure that only mail sent by members of the list will make it through
to the list and all other mail will be discarded.
