Subject: [LIST-UPDATE] Advising List Subscribers re change

Copied, below - between the dash lines - is a standard message I would
like to send to each of the lists I admin when they are migrated (note:
where the ACLAND list name appears, assume I will change this for each
list). I would appreciate if anyone could advise me on whether I have
missed anything of importance to list members, or am inaccurate in any
way.
------------------------------------------------------
Rootsweb are progressively transferring all their mailing lists over to
a new system. The ACLAND list has already migrated.
You should not notice anything material that is different, although
Digest subscribers will see minor changes in the way the Digests are
formatted and AOL Digest subscribers will receive a Zip file of
messages - but this is caused by AOL rather than Rootsweb, as I
understand it.
You can continue sending messages to the list using the old
mail address or you can use the new form:
. The new form is strongly recommended as the old
form of addressing will eventually be phased out.
For those of you who have set-up filters to trap messages from the list,
the [ACLAND] prepend to the subject line remains unchanged. However, if
you use the address ACLAND-L or ACLAND-D in your filter, this will need
to be changed to just ACLAND
It is no longer possible to subscribe to the list twice using a single
email address. If you wish to subscribe to the List in both Mail mode
(the old -L) and in Digest mode (the old -D) you will need to use two
separate email addresses - one for each mode. So I suggest you keep
life simple and just subscribe to one of the forms. They are the same
messages, just a different format
The "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" methodology has changed subtly - these
commands (which should be sent to the ) must
now be typed into the subject header rather than the body of the
message. Keep the subject to just the one word required and leave the
message body empty.
Finally, the way bounced mailings (that is, messages that cannot be
delivered) are handled by the system. Up to now as Admin I often
receive many notifications of bounced mail . This will no longer happen
and I will not be aware of a problem until the system disables your list
account due to the number of bounces. This problem is most often caused
by a subscriber changing their email address and forgetting to
unsubscribe from the old address or due to having a full mail box
Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me,
preferably at my personal e-mail address listed below.

Regards,
Ian MARR

Some people worry about their past catching up with them - I'm trying to
catch up with my past
