Hi Drew.
I did indeed see Marie's message. I stand to be corrected, however I did
not think that MIME had anything to do with setting each message in a digest
as a separate attachment. I thought it had to do with an extended character
set. Generally if I receive a message in MIME it has a lot of extra
gobledegook characters in addition to the readable text. Checking the
properties of some of my list digests, as well as individual messages within
them, they all indicate they are plain text messages. In any case, I will
wait a couple of days to find out.
As a point of interest, in Digest Vol 1, issue 16, one message illustrated
exactly one of the complaints made in my original post about this subject.
Message #2 where Margo Murphy asks about a genealogy of Morgan the Pirate
included the entire contents Digest Vol 1, Issue 15, thus indicating that as
a Digest subscriber she simply hit REPLY, penned her question, and then hit
SEND, without doing any editing to remove postings having nothing to do with
her query (which in this case was the entire Digest). I have noted also a
number of instances where those obviously subscribed in Mail mode, in
replying to a post, have not edited out the multiple instances of the two
tag lines it would appear we are now destined to live with. These
illustrate the second of the complaints made in my last post.
Have a great day!
Gordon

Hi, Gordon! You may have missed Marie's message from about 90 minutes ago
where she wrote:
"Mailman can send out the digest in either plain text or MIME and has since
been changed to default to plain text. It also has the option to set each
subscriber to the other option if he/she so prefers it."
