This is what I know for sure: George M Legg was born in Indiana in 1855 and married Lucy Dugan from Kankakee IL in 1881. On the census from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, George M indicated his father was from KY and mother was from IL or IN depending on the year. As he got older, he must have changed his story or forgotten. Guesses: I believe there is a George M Legg in Shelby County KY born 1812 or 1818 who married Melissa Moore, aka Malissa Moore. I know they had a big family, including George Jr, who may have been my ancestor. Other children included Samuel, Jonathan, Albert, Mary, Mildred, Charles, Thadeus, Effa. I am not sure if this is my family or not. George Sr indicates on the census that his father was born in TN. George Sr died in Kankakee so that is why I think this is the right line. I have no idea who George Sr 's father was but I think most of the family were from VA originally. Thanks for your response so quickly.
