Hello Pam

Well you have com up ok on the list and it is good to see you. I am Tony Leeming, keeper of the list and am pleased to welcome you.

I am not sure how much FH research you have done, but to point you hopefully in the right direction, the standard sources include-
www.freebmd.org.uk for births, marriages and deaths back to 1837
Ancestry which you mention for the censuses where you should be able to find James and get his approx date of birth and place. A search on the 1861 census for Lavinia Leeming shows the couple in Clitheroe with James age 22. So you could look at FreeBMD for a birth of James about 1838/9.
www.familysearch.org for pre- 1837 parish records.
www.lan-opc.org.uk for some Lancashire parish registers.

I will be interested to hear how you get on.

Regards,

My first try at this so any feedback on how to do this will be helpful.

I had emailed Jane Hughes website and she gave me this information:

James Leeming marries Lavinia Hine in Bury Lancs 11 Apr 1859 and some John is born 25 Dec 1860 & baptised, Clitheroe 19 Jan 1862.

The only other info I have is that it is John Richard died 1940 and had married Sarah Turner 1863-1945. This is from research on Ancestry.com.

If anyone can fill in any gaps or goes further back it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Pam
