I just noticed this message and wondered if my Joshua Leach from Calvert County, Maryland, who married Priscilla Wilkinson and moved to Butler County, Ohio is the same Joshua Leach (son of Ambrose Leach) that you are speaking of in your messages? I think it is, but I don't have any of my paperwork with me right now. I don't know all of Joshua Leach's children, but I have visited the cemetery where he and his wife are supposed to be buried. I couldn't find any stones there for them. If we are talking about the same Joshua Leach, I would like to know so that I can fill in any gaps that I can. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have been contaced in the past by a researcher of a Leach family in
Maryland, in which the wife's name was MARGARET IRELAND, and this line
eventually went to OHIO.

I was interested in this couple because the dates and location were very
good to correspond with my anecstry, and addtionally the name IRELAND could
be perhsp a clue.

My ancestor was either abandoned or orpahned, and he insisted his mother was
from IRELAND. Could his mother's name be Ireland, and not her country of
Origin?

Now you have an Alicia IRELAND, I think this is not a coincidence, your
Alicia is probably related to Margaret Ireland, who married I believe is was
JAMES LEACH.

Remember, this is not my research, I am recalling another researcher who
contacted me, and I am very sure I have those notes here, and this may help
you.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin

> Ernie: Maybe we should compare notes. My Leach ancestors are from
> Calvert
> & Montgomery County, MD and migrated to KY. Some other members of the
> family moved to VA (now West VA), NC, and Ohio.
>
>
>
> We think our line starts with John Leach 1640-1699 Calvert Co and wife,
> Alicia Ireland, who had four sons: John Leach, Jr. 1663-1713; Jeremiah
> Leach; Ambrose Leach; and James Leach.
>
>
>
> John Leach, Jr. married Mary Elizabeth ? and they had 6 children: John,
> II;
> Elizabeth: Mary: Alice; Samuel; and Margaret. I don't have much on
his
> descendants.
>
>
>
> Jeremiah married Elizabeth ? and they had 4 children: Jeremiah, Jr.;
> James;
> Charles; and Mary. I don't have much on his descendants.
>
>
>
> Ambrose married Mary and they had 4 children: Joshua; John; Ambrose, Jr.;
> and William. This is my main line of research (see below for more data).
>
>
>
> James - I have been unable to find anything on him.
>
>
>
> The first two children of Ambrose, Joshua and John, have been impossible
> to
> trace. The third son, Ambrose, Jr., married Elizabeth Neam and they had
> four children: Clement, Benjamin, Phillip, and Nessel. We know that
> Clement
> moved to Marshall County, VA (later West VA); Benjamin moved to Rowan
> County, NC; and we have been unable to find any data on the 3rd and 4th
> children, Phillip and Nessel.
>
>
>
> The last child of Ambrose, William, is my line. William married Martha ?
> and they had 5 children: John; William, Jr.; Nancy; Rev. Thomas; and
> Martha.
> The first son, John, married Mary Johnson and they had 3 children: Sarah;
> Martha; and William Brooks (he is in my line that moved to Ohio County, KY
> around 1800). The second son, William, Jr., also moved to Ohio County, KY
> around 1800. The third son, Rev. Thomas, moved to Muskingum County, Ohio.
> I have not been able to find anything on the two daughters of William:
> Nancy
> and Martha.
>
>
>
> Please let me know if your line connects to my line, and, if so, how it
> connects.
