I'm not quite sure, my Lance line was wrong and I'm just now getting the
correct information. However, I did read that when our ancestors came from
the other country, many of them wanted to fit in with the English, to be
excepted, thus changing their names to be more English. Another thing, when
census were taken, you will find that a lot of times the same names are
speeled differently -- they went door to door for the census back then and
if could have been the fact that the name was spelled like it sounded, Lantz
to Lance. However, I do not know the real reason -- most of my line that
were in the U.S. prior to 1800 names have changed a little. Sorry I couldn't
be of definate help.
