I see that Jessie Fletcher Lambie died in 1925 aged 38 years in Larbert,
Stirlingshire. I will try and get the entry from Kay Park next week.

Hi Dean and Paul,

I have been doing a little bit of research on the two children belonging to
the Muirkirk Lammies who appear to have no parents in the 1891 and 1901
Scotland Census.

I believe their father may be William Lammie (b abt 1863) who may have
married Marion Forrest in Lesmahagow in 1885 and emigrated to Canada. There
is a shipping record of the two children with a Mr Lambie (could be William,
but difficult to tell from the handwriting) entering Scotland via Glasgow
from New York in 1890. The Mr Lambie with them is aged 28 so that could tie
in quite well with William who is the brother of George Lammie (married to
Elizabeth Pollock) and son of James Lammie (married to Elizabeth Sloan).
These two families had the children living with them in the 1891 and 1901
Scotland Census.

I have recently connected with a member of Ancestry in Canada who is related
to the descendants of George and Elizabeth Lammie but I am still eagerly
awaiting a reply.

Sorry I have no definitive answers as yet.

Regards

Marion Corrigan

(Muirkirk Lammie)

Hi Dean,

Thomas the son of John Lambie & Helen Twigg was born 19th November 1860 in
New Kilpatrick. You were looking for a 35 year old Thomas not 40 years? We
need more certificates.

As regards the Muirkirk question. I don't see the birth of a Jessie Lambie
in Lesmahagow at that time so she (and James) may be adopted. More research
required here.

Mauchline; David (my 3rd cousin) married Agnes Hamilton Wilkie in Eastwood
in 1894, young David came along in 1896.

I am very suspicious of some of these Ancestry Census translations. I will
look out some of the originals in Kay Park.

Regards,

Paul

Hi,

Thanks Paul. What do you mean by 'The Dates don't quite match' in regards to
Thomas Lambie and Janet Ross?

Muirkirk Question:

George Lambie, son of James Lambie and Elizabeth Sloan, living in
Hutchesontown, Glasgow with Wife, Elizabeth Pollock, and children, plus a
niece and nephew.
Jessie Fletcher Lambie - Born Lesmahagow., aged 15.
James Lambie, born Ranson, USA, aged 13.
They are also in the 1891 census, but living with James Lambie and Elizabeth
Sloan.
Who are their parents?

Mauchline Question:
David Lambie, son of David Lambie and Mary Black, Printfield Clerk in 1901,
Printfield Labourer in 1891. Born Renfrewshire.
Agnes, Wife, 35. Born, Aknantrie, DMB (That's what the report says anyway).
David, son, 4. Born Pollokshaws, RFW.
Living in Spiersbridge Road, Eastwood, RFW.
What is Agnes' maiden name and when did they marry?

Probably more to come...
