Subject: Can someone die twice?

Hi Everyone,

I believe I have solved my query over which Lambie married Peter Forbes Beaton.

Peter married Jean/Jane/Jeanie Lambie who died of Phthisis Pneumonalis (Tuberculosis) on 16th February 1872.

I can only conclude that whoever recorded the inscription made an error. Maybe Jane looked like Ann on the stone. I know it seems unlikely but when you have seen as many on the stones as I have its easy to make a mistake as they age and degrade. This is why I always take photo's of each stone I record.

I saw another error in the inscription. Alexander Lambie died in 1888 (as the record below) but the original transcript said 1889. Easily done.

Regards,

Paul

Hi everyone,

I think I already know the answer to the question in the title but that doesn't help me with my problem.

Alexander Lambie & Janet Rodger of Kilmarnock had a daughter named Ann who married John McLintock in 1855 but unfortunately died later that year after giving birth to daughter Annie McLintock. She was only 21. I have the death certificate.

So far so good. On the MI recently posted for this family, Ann Lambie marries Peter Forbes Beaton and dies in 1872 aged 28:

a.. Erected by Alexander Lambie, wife Janet Rodger died 12th April 1877 aged 69 years, children James Lambie died 7th August 1829 age 16mths, Hugh Lambie died 22nd April 1837 aged 7 years, Alexander Lambie died 2nd April 1840 aged 2 years, Ann Fowlds Lambie (husband P F Beaton) died 16th February 1872 aged 28 years, Andrew Lambie died Madras, India April 1887 aged 41 years, William Lambie died Workington 24th March 1888 aged 35 years ; the above Alexander Lambie died Maybole 3rd June 1888 aged 85 years.
There's 10 years difference in age but would you have 2 daughters named Ann?

Why is there only one Ann appearing in the census records of 1841 & 1851?

Any ideas?

Regards,

Paul
