I don't know if any of this will help or not. Since you never responded I went ahead and looked up Mary's birth info.
She was born about 1837 in PA and died12/10/1919 in New Orleans. Parents were also born in PA per later census records.
There should be a death cert and hopefully it will have her parents names.

There is only one Allen family from PA in New Orleans in 1840-1860. The head is Charles W. Allen who apparently was a
wealthy planter and cotton merchant. I think that his company still survives today. It appears that he and his brother
Alexander had a plantation in Pointe Coupee. Alexander is there in 1850 and 1860. I didn't check further. Charles Allen
was in the 3rd ward of New Orleans in 1840 with a wife and a boy and girl both ages 10 to 15. I think the boy must have
been Michael Allen who appears both in New Orleans and in Pointe Coupee for several decades. Michael mostly lived in the
2nd ward of NO -same as James B. Williams and Mary.

The only thing keeping me from saying that Mary is the daughter shown in 1840 is this 1850 census record which shows
Charles, his wife Margaret, his brother Alexander and a Mary age 29? It could just be one of those messed up census
records which sometimes happen.

1850 Pointe Coupee Parish, LA, page 42
Charles W. Allen 41 PA planter
Alexander 39 PA planter
Margaret 37 PA
Mary 29? PA

In 1860 Charles and Margaret are back in the 3rd ward NO. They remain in NO in 1870 and 1880.

I would try for the death certificate for Mary first and possibly look into the history of the Charles W. Allen Co.
