Mrs. Mary Cates Dies in Her Home

Mrs. Mary J. Cates, 92, died at 8:45 a.m. today in her home at 343 Lawrence
street after an illness of weeks. She was born in Hopkins County December
8, 1867, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Madison

She was a member of the Mt. Gilead General Baptist church near Slaughters.

Her husband, J.W. Cates preceded her in death in August 1950.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Allinder; one son, George Cates;
one grandson, Holman Allinder, and one great-grandson, Joe Allinder, all
of Madisonville.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Harris Funeral
Home, North Main. The Rev. Lona Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in
the Odd Fellows cemetery.

The body is at the funeral home.
