Since many members of this family migrated to Kentucky, this note may be of
interest to some members of this list.

Those who research Person County Claytons may be interested in a draft
version of a paper that I have posted. It represents research that I did
some time ago but would like to share. You will find the paper at:

I have chosen to share this information although my research is incomplete
in the hope that (1) it will be useful to others and (2) that I may connect
with others who are researching these families who may have information that
I am missing. I will be happy to have your questions, corrections, and
additions.

The paper documents three generations starting with Solomon Clayton, Sr. and
Frances Carver. Solomon and Frances were the parents of nine children, seven
of whom moved to Western Kentucky and two of whom stayed in Person County,
NC. The nine children were:

1 - John Draper Clayton who was born on 04 Mar 1808 and died Apr 1893. On 04
Nov 1828 in Person County, NC he married his first cousin, Elizabeth M.
Clayton, who was born 1810.

2 - Elizabeth Clayton who was born 1811. She married in Person County, NC
James Edward Villines who was born 1802.

3 - Simeon Clayton who was born 31 Aug 1813 and died 1889. On 09 Feb 1833 in
Person County, NC he married Mary Painter who was born 11 Jan 1911.

4 - William Alexander Clayton born 1815 in Person County, NC and died 1876
on 21 Oct 1839 married Sallie Yarbrough who was born 1816 and died 1850.
Second, William Alexander Clayton married on 15 Mar 1853 Mary Ann Clayton,
the daughter of his first cousin, Robert Clayton, who was a son of Coleman
Clayton. Third, William Alexander Clayton married on 23 Aug 1864 Sarah Jane
Clayton who was born 1843 and was a sister to his second wife.

5 - Solomon Clayton, Jr. was born 1818 and died 1890. He married in Person
County, NC Alcie Yarbrough who was born 1820 and died 1892.

6 - William P. Clayton was born 1819. He married Elizabeth Fuller who was
born 1823 and died Jun 1865. Second, William P. Clayton on 30 Jun 1865
married Catherin Fuller.

7 - Frances Malinda Clayton was born 21 Jan 1821and died Aug 1896. She
married in Person County, NC on 29 Nov 1849 to William P. Pool who was born
05 Apr 1819 and died 15 Mar 1885.

8 - Nancy Clayton was born 15 Jan 1822 and died 27 Nov 1867. In Person
County, NC on 12 Jun 1851 she married Henry Owen who was born 1833.

9 - Richard Jefferson Clayton born Jun 1826 and died 21 Jan 1904 married on
17 Nov 1847 Roann Slaughter who was born 28 Jul 1824 and died 01 Apr 1906.
