There has never been a coal mine in either of these counties that i am aware
of.
However, there is a rock quarry in Bracken County on Route 8-between Augusta
and Mentor. Perhaps this could be the mine spoken of.
I am researching my family of Smalley. Either Bracken, Mason, Fleming , Grant
and Lewis Counties. I am looking for great grandmother by the name of Lou,
Louetta, Louada Smalley married to David C Hampton. I know there were Smalley
kin in Bracken County so perhaps someone may know of this person.
