Subject: Jewell & Republic Co Kansas Railroads 1870-1880's

I belive my SHAIN relatives were working on the railroad in Jewell and Republic Counties in Kansas. In Republic Co kansas in 1880 living in Rose creek working as laborer living in tent (along with everyone else on consecutive pages of census. Can anyone tell me what railroad might have been in this area. I can't follow my ancestor out of this county but find his family in Iowa later on.
