Yes there are some KS state censuses here is a list I obtained from Heritage
Quest's site:

Kansas 1865 State Census
Kansas 1875 State Census
Kansas 1885 State Census
Kansas 1895 State Census
Kansas 1905 State Census
Kansas Territorial Census, 1855-1859

As far as Soundex goes... here is the data on that:

1880 was the first Soundex it was only done on households with children age
10 and under in the home.

1900 and 1920 there is a Soundex for households

1910 some states, not all have a Miracode

It is good to learn to use the Soundex and very time saving in searching for
ones family.

I am sure there are others out there who can give you better details... I
tried to keep it simple. What I learned
many years ago, is the Soundex is my friend!
