William B. Kost, 83, of White Oak, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born June 9, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Mr. Kost was employed by the McKeesport Daily News from 1957 to 1994, serving the last 30 years as its controller. He was a director and past president of the Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce, was a CPA, loved crossword puzzles and classical music and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Kost was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees. He was the son of the late Peter and Zella Kost. He is survived by his wife, Karen Miller Kost; daughter, Gretchen Kost, of Coal Center, Pa.; son, Erich Kost, of South Fayette; sister, Alverda Paulson, of Albert Lea, Minn.; nephew, Richard (Karen) Paulson, of Albert Lea, Minn.; and also by great-nieces. Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the HUNTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 1600 Coursin St., McKeesport, PA 15132. A servi!
ce will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Charles E. Owston, minister, officiating. The family suggests contributions to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
