I am looking to confirm the parents of Catharine King, b. 15 Aug 1843 in Ohio and died 25 Jan 1887 in Franklin Township, Lee, Iowa. She was listed in various censuses as Catharina, Kate, Caty, Katy, Katherine, and she may have been born as KING, KOENIG, or KONIG. She married John Gram who was born in Bavaria (m. 2 Oct 1870 in Lee, Iowa), and they had 7 children: Hannah Madaline; Amanda E.; Clara; Ida Ottilda; August Wilhelm; John Peter; and Arthur Herman, all born in Iowa.
I have some information that Catherine was the daughter of John KING and Magdalena SALZMAN, but I need to confirm this to my satisfaction. John King was born 1810 in Germany and died in Iowa. He was the son of Christian KING and Maria ZIMMERMAN. Magdalena Salzman was born 1815 in Alsace, Loraine District, France, and died in Iowa. These two had five children: Catherine; her twin Joseph; Elizabeth b. 2 Sep 1839 in Champaign, OH (she later m. John HENDERICK and d. 1924 in Kansas City, MO); Mary b. 1841 in Ohio; and Barbara b. 1845 in Ohio.
If these are indeed the parents of my Catherine King Gram, I would love sources or info on further ancestors. This has been my most elusive question in my family tree -- any info would be greatly appreciated!
