Greetings from a new lister.
I have a fair bit of information and original documentation regarding Dr. Edward Edward Kitchen, a physician in St. George, Brant County, Ontario. I've been told that he was born May 5, 1841 to Edward and Eunice Kitchen, his grandparents being John Kitchen and Susannah Bird. I have yet to confirm this.
I have sent to inGeneas for his marriage certificate, in hopes that it contains his parents' names. The marriage document that I have is handwritten by my great, great grandfather, the Rev. William Donald, who married Edward Edward to his (William's) sister in law, Annie Charlton. This document mentions only the names of the bride and groom and the witnesses.
Edward and Annie died without children, and Sunnyside, the mansion that Edward built in St.George (I believe it is now the town hall) was left to my grandfather, their great-nephew, Dr. Edward Donald, who was in med. school at the time (and named for Edward Edward perhaps?). As a result, I have an envelope full of wonderful papers regarding Dr. Kitchen: his medical degree from the University of Toronto, wedding invitations and announcements and "at home" cards left over from his marriage, the hand written marriage document mentioned above, and a wonderful letter that he wrote to his wife. I also have a letter from Mrs. William Donald (nee Ella Charlton, Annie's sister) to a grandson mentioning Annie Kitchen closing up the house for the winter and going to Brantford, leading me to believe that the Kitchens had 2 homes.
If anyone has any additional information about Edward Edward (why is his second name the same as the first?), I'd be happy to share what I have.
Thanks,
Meg Dea Vail
