Long ago, I gave Emma Messinger the information about Elisabeth REEB, the
daughter of Friedrich Reeb and Louisa Weber. I also have consistently and
still do insist that there is too much evidence that Elisabeth Reeb Noesser
is the same person as the daughter of Friedrich Reeb and Louisa Weber. Even
though the year of birth on tombstone and in death record is one year
difference, the day is only one digit different and the month is the same.
Not only that but two other daughters of Friedrich Reeb and Louisa Weber Reeb
can be proven to have lived and died in New Orleans.

At one time Emma Messinger told me about a grandson of Elisabeth Reeb Noesser
having written that Elisabeth was born in 1823, which matches Elisabeth,
daughter of Friedrich Reeb's daughter except for one day difference on the
tombstone. I have pointed out to Emma that we have numerous records where
some record in the U.S.A. such as church, civil, or tomstone inscription will
vary somewhat from the dates found in French Civil and Church records,
however there is ample proof they are the same persons etc. I have also
suggested to Emma that I do not believe the sureness that she seems to be
seeking is going to be found in the French records but possibly more
attention needs to be given to the New Orleans records. Since the obituary
contains no answers and the tombstone is, in my opinion, in error other
things need to be considered. Perhaps some attention given to the records of
Louisa REEB Werner and her sister, Christina REEB Sonnemeyer just might
contain something that mentions Elisabeth Reeb Noesser etc. Also, if someone
can get some cooperation from the Lutheran churches in New Orleans the
answers may be within. However, this is not an easy task. I spent much time,
letters and telephone calls to some of the Lutheran churches in New Orleans
only to convince me that the people who are allowed to search through the
original churchbooks there just may not be qualified to provide the best and
correct answers.

I am still convinced that Elisabeth REEB Noesser was the daughter of
Friedrich REEB and Lousia Weber of Dehlingen.

John V. Reeb
