FYI, Stillwater is on the Minnesota side/bank of the St. Croix River, which runs between Minnesota and Wisconsin and joins the Mississippi River just south of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul). Stillwater is east of the northern part of the Twin Cities and is located in Washington County. It is one of the oldest towns in MInnesota and was an important part of the logging industry when that was booming in the late 1800's. Now it's more of a touristy area with a lot of antique shops and so on. Interesting place to visit.
As far as I can tell there were two separate KERN families that lived there, mine, and another, apparently unrelated branch.
