Sorry, I have no idea where he came out of (in Germany) or where he landed over here, could have swam for all I know. I only know about Germany because that's what the census for his children said = I haven't found a census with him in it.
He died in 1890, ILL.his marriage license states Germany. That's where I found his parents names - Jacob Kern and E. Hirst.

When Anthony m. Henrietta Gibbs, their 1st daughter was named Emma so I'm wondering if that might have been Jacobs wife's name, Emma Hirst.
