Barb: do you have any children listed for Jacob? Or dates? I have been searching for 'my' Jacob' quite awhile too. My g.grandfather was Anthony Kern b. 1854 Germany to Jacob and E. Hirst Kern. I don't know if the parents came over with him (abt. 1879), where they were before Illinois or where in Germany they lived.
